Scaling Heights: Conquering Mount Toubkal in the High Atlas Mountains
Trekking to Mount Toubkal is a thrilling adventure that takes you through the heart of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco. You will start from the village of Imlil, where you will be greeted by stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. From there, you will hike through traditional Berber villages, passing by lush green valleys and gushing streams. As you ascend higher, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains, including the towering Mount Toubkal, which is the highest peak in North Africa. The trek culminates with a challenging ascent to the summit of Mount Toubkal, where you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Throughout the trek, you will have the opportunity to experience the local culture and hospitality of the Berber people, who have lived in the mountains for centuries.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Marrakech - Imlil - Armed
Pick up from your airport in the direction to Imlil via Tahnaout, Moulay Brahim gorges and Asni. In Imlil at 1745, we go for a walk around 40minutes to make it to the last village in Imlil called Armed at 2000m where you overnight.Day 2 : Armed - Toubkal Refuge
After breakfast, we start walking along the valley of Toubkal, get onto to the shrine of Chamharouch through juniper forest. Here, you stop for the first break to enjoy a cop of and appreciate the views. After that, we continue zigzzaging for 1:00 hour for the lunch stop at 2800m. After lunch, we carry on to make it Toubkal refuge where spend the night at 3207m.Day 3 : Toubkal Refuge - Toubkal Summit
Today, we make it the highest peaks in North Africa 4167 via a number of screes and the opportunity to admire the peaks of the Atlas Mountains and its scenery.On the top, you will see the Sahara, Marrakech and Oudmane valley. After that, we retrace the same way or with a different way (Ighibi north-west) to the refuge for another night.Day 4 : Toubkal Summit - Toubkal Refuge
We head down early morning to Around, passing by Chamharouch shrine. In Armed, you will enjoy lunch in one of the oldest houses in the valley before you discover how carpets are made, dishes and tea as well in a tradional way. Then, descend down finding out more in the valley such as watterfulls and Argan In Imlil, the transport is provided back to Marrakesh. During the, you will explore Marrakesh like Koutoubia Mosque, Palley Bahia, Majourelle garden and palace of Badiaa and Jamaa Lfna squire and the night in riad.Day 5 : Marrakech - airport
